Whew! It’s been a busy couple of weeks.
In addition to getting ready to leave a week from Monday for England, there’s the usual “stuff” of daily living. . . Groomer appointments, shopping, dry cleaners, dropping off and picking up jewelry for cleaning and repairs and still attempting to work on book 2. In addition to checking all the last minute details for a trip across the pond. It seems every day has been busy . . . but here I am.
On the gardening scene, everything is growing. Not yet harvested but still growing.
The tomatoes are coming along great……..

And look at this! I was thrilled to discover we have our first cucumber!

Even my Bella Lugosi Day Lily is blooming. ‘Tis the season for growth!

The heat has been excessive here for the past couple of weeks. In the 90’s every day. Ugh! In my 37 years in Florida, I don’t ever recall it being this hot in early June! A sign of the times, I’m afraid. I checked my weather app this morning and Manchester is mid 50’s during the day and 40’s overnight with lots of rain most days. Actually, after all the heat here, I think I’ll welcome the relief! I have an umbrella and chosen appropriate clothes, so I think I’ll be just fine. Besides……….I’m certainly not going there for the weather! (But it would be nice for Julien and Roisin to have a bit of sunshine on their wedding day!)
I’m still working on book 2 and would like to finish a couple of more chapters before I leave.
And for my downtime, of course I’m knitting. I’m working on the Local Yarn Cowl, designed by Casapinka. Anybody else working on that? I don’t have too much left and plan to have it finished before I leave. Next on my knitting projects is the Jade Cowl, a very pretty design by Amano. I’m going to set up a knitting category here and next time I’ll have some photos for you.
And I’m also reading. I’ve discovered a new-to-me author, Nell Goddin. I’m reading her Molly Sutton mystery series. Setting is the Dordogne area of France, she’s an expat who has moved to a small village and is renting a gite on her property for income. Great writing, well developed characters, humor and a good story. Confirmed Francophile that I am, I was pleased to discover this series. I finished The Third Girl, book 1 and I’m now reading book 2, The Luckiest Woman Ever. What are you reading at the moment?
I also purchased the new memoir by Dominic Dunne’s (I loved his articles in Vanity Fair!) son, Griffin Dunne. I’m saving this to read on my flight to England.
That’s it for this time. I’ll get back here once more before I leave on June 24. In the meantime, stay cool, be happy and enjoy your days.
See you here next time………….

Have a great time in England. It is hot for June here too. Plants look good
Thank you. I’m afraid it’s hot pretty much everywhere in this country.
Veggies are looking great. Nothing beats fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. Enjoy your trip to England and the wedding.
I really have never grown veggies before so I’m impressed…..lol Can’t wait to harvest them!
Cold down here as it is winter so I’d welcome some Florida sunshine. Your veggies look great – yum fresh cucumbers and tomatoes. Enjoy your stay in England and also the wedding.
That’s right it’s winter down under!
Thank you. I’m very much looking forward to revisiting England but the wedding is my highlight!
I am thinking of a tomato and cucumber salad. I believe English folks like that, too.
A tomato and cucumber salad will be great! Just wish they’d ripen faster for harvesting 🙄
